Hold On starts off with the title song, written by and featuring McCray Dove. The song became a #1 hit for the group on the August 2010 Singing News radio chart. Several tracks, notably the Oak Ridge Boys cover "He's Gonna Smile On Me" and the Anne Murray cover "A Little Good News," appeal to fans with a country music background. "A Little Good News," in fact, was the project's first single. The group keeps in touch with its roots with several songs in the classic Southern Gospel style, including "Back to Egypt," "When I Wake Up in the Morning," and "I'm Gonna Rise." One other notable cover was David Hester's interpretation of the Rusty Goodman classic "Leavin' on My Mind." Between their lineup stability and their mixture of classic Southern Gospel and country influences, the Dove Brothers have built an instantly recognizable sound that is put to good use on these ten songs.
