Frankie King founded Point of Honor in 1995. She grew up singing with her family, and after several years in country bands, she became a Christian at age 29. The Downings got her hooked on Southern Gospel; she was also influenced stylistically by Neil Sedaka, the Speer Family (particularly Sue Chenault Dodge), and the Lanny Wolfe Trio. Her future husband, Ronny, joined the group in 1998, and they began dating in 2000. The third trio member is Marilyn Bryant, who grew up singing with her family; she joined Point of Honor after a stint with Inheritance. She sang with the group for 2 1/2 years before leaving; after six years away from the group, she got back in touch just to mend broken fences—only to find that they'd also been praying for her to return. The time was right, and she rejoined the group.
