Singer/songwriter Phil Cross had a meteoric start in Southern Gospel, writing or co-writing several of the biggest hits of the 1980s—"Welcome to Heaven" (Singing Americans), "Champion of Love" (Cathedrals), "Miracle in Me" (Greenes), "When I Get Carried Away" (Gold City) and "Medals, Crowns and Trophies" (Nelons). Strong off the success of his first decade, he took to the road in 1991, starting Poet Voices. His hits continued through the decade, with songs like "Wedding Music" (Cathedrals), "One Holy Lamb" (Poet Voices, Tribute Quartet), and "I Am Redeemed" (Poet Voices). In recent years, Cross has diversified his talents, launching efforts in the choral music and album production fields.
