Mended Wings was a male group (alternating between trio and quartet formats) managed by tenor Rodney Hoots. Hoots had previously performed with the Blue Ridge Quartet, the Singing Americans, and with country singer Billy "Crash" Craddock. Notable members over the years included Chris Lee, who sang with the Cathedral Quartet for about a year after their 1979 reorganization and former Naomi & the Segos member Scott Spangler.
