The Cumberland Boys started in 1983 as the Southern Gospel entertainment at the Opryland Nashville theme park. They stayed there for sixteen years, appearing at the Grand Ole Opry and on Prime Time country, Nashville Now, Hee Haw, and The Porter Waggoner Show. After the Opryland theme park closed, tenor Depp Britt formed a new group, featuring Jon Charles Taggart on lead, Jeremy Wilkerson on baritone, and Cecil Stringer on bass. They started touring as the Cumberland Quartet in 1999, and later that year became part of the entertainment lineup at Silver Dollar City in Branson, Missouri.
