As the Collingsworth children's voices have matured, the younger siblings have been able to take increased roles in the group's programs and recordings. Previous Collingsworth Family recordings featured solos from the younger children on occasion—but on The Answer, there is an increased rich diversity of vocal combinations throughout the recording. In the past, the mixed trio of Phil Sr., Kim, and oldest daughter Brooklyn carried most of the songs on Collingsworth Family recordings, but here this particular configuration is only on three songs—including the first radio single, Bottom of the Barrel.

A trio of the three oldest Collingsworth siblings (Brooklyn, Courtney, and Phil Jr.) offer Count Your Blessings Again, while a female trio of Kim, Brooklyn, and Courtney is featured on Ever Gentle, Ever Sweet and the project's second radio single, Fear Not Tomorrow.

Oh, the Thought that Jesus Loves Me features most of the Collingsworth Family's vocal configurations on its four verses, including a verse featuring Olivia Collingsworth, a verse with a duet by Phil Sr. and Kim, a verse with the female trio lineup, and a verse with the whole family.

There are also two instrumental songs, a trumpet feature (by Phil Sr.) on When the Roll is Called Up Yonder, and a piano solo by Kim on Great is Thy Faithfulness.
