Balsam Range #1 Bluegrass Single for May and June

Posted on: June 13th, 2011 by No Comments

The title track from Trains I Missed has landed Balsam Range at the top of the National Bluegrass Survey’s single chart for two consecutive months.
Since Trains I Missed came out last September, this Mountain Home artist has quickly climbed into the Bluegrass charts. Beginning at the first of this year, they’ve received top spots on Sirius XM’s Bluegrass Junction’s most played albums and single charts, and topped the March Bluegrass Music Profiles chart.
Balsam Range’s previous release, Last Train to Kitty Hawk (2009), also saw its title track garner #1 success.

This is the first time a Mountain Home recording artist has spent two consecutive months at the top of the National Bluegrass Survey chart.

“In Christ Alone” turns ten

Posted on: January 31st, 2011 by No Comments

Lauren Talley’s new arrangement of the modern classic “In Christ Alone” is receiving a strong welcome—in the current issue of Singing News (February 2010), in fact, it is the #1 most added radio single on the Singing News Top 10 New Releases chart!

The song was co-written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend, ten years ago . . . to the day. They finished writing the song on January 31, 2001, and didn’t have a clue the impact the song would have in other genres and, now, Southern Gospel. Co-writer Townend stated:

I think one of the reasons the song is so popular is that it can stir up our emotions . . . but the emotion is not the central feature of the song. Because the lyrics stay fixed on the unchanging truths of our salvation, it not only provokes emotion, but engenders faith, strengthening our spirits, not just stirring up our souls.

It’s on Lauren’s Songs in the Night album, which you can preview and purchase here. It is also one of the featured February releases in the Crossroads soundtrack series, coming soon! The soundtrack can be pre-ordered here.
