The Grascals sign with Mountain Home
“I am delighted that the Grascals have signed with Mountain Home. I have known most of the guys in the Grascals for over 25 years. They are among the best musicians in the business and it has been a joy to watch their careers develop. I am proud of their work with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital over the past several years and they continue to pour their hearts into every show and every recording. Their new relationship with Mountain Home will allow them to continue to make landmark bluegrass recordings. Mountain Home has been a steady partner for many of the flagship artists in bluegrass and Mountain Home’s business philosophy, approach to the creative process and enthusiastic willingness to partner with artists in new business models will energize the Grascals and stoke their creative fire.”
- David S. Crow
“I would like to offer my congratulations to the Grascals for their new deal with Mountain Home Records, based in Arden, North Carolina. I understand they are in the process of recording a new album for that label at this time and I look forward to that release with great anticipation. The Grascals are one of the most respected, and talented Bluegrass bands in the business consisting of award winning vocalists and instrumentalists plus the two time winner of IBMA’ s highest award, Entertainer of the Year.”
- Sonny Osborne
“Miss Dixie and I get up every morning and listen to Bluegrass music while drinking our coffee and planning the day. We are Grascal Groupies and since I am an honorary Grascal myself, we hear a lot of them. It is wonderful to see these good friends take their music to unprecedented heights without compromising the heart and soul of the music. So let us all raise a cup to Grascals Groupies forever.”
- Tom T. and Dixie Hall
“The Grascals enrich our world with an energy, enthusiasm and emotion that makes it virtually impossible to give up your seat – whether you’re enjoying them live or through any of their recordings. But while they’re entertaining you, there’s also an urgent sense you just have to share them with someone, anyone and everyone and you want to be the first person to get credit for telling your friends, ‘Come here, now! Have you heard the latest from the Grascals? Their sound and stage presence is distinctly their own but as inviting and familiar as having your best friends playing for you.”
- Dan Hays

Darin and Brooke Aldridge CD release Party, Stunning in the Sun
Darin and Brooke, along with sponsors Choice USA, distributor of Sun Drop, held a mini music festival at the Cleaveland County Fairgrounds in Shelby, NC to celebrate the new Mountain Home Music release, So Much In Between, which finds its official street date August 16, 2011. The event also included multiple vendors and an emerging artist stage that hosted amateur and professional bands, as well as a student band instructed by Darin Aldridge.
Although complicated by an unseasonably high heat index and an eventual lightning threat that prevented the concert from going to its full length, the band commanded a stellar performance with ideal sound and execution that resulted in a CD quality concert experience.
With finely rehearsed arrangements and vocal harmonies rivaling the best in the music world, the group offered select singles from the new release as well as songs from the band’s prior releases and a healthy mix of Bluegrass classics.
By dusk, many local fans and regional attendees braved the heat to hear and see a spectacular night of music.
Darin & Brooke Aldridge host CD Release Party
Darin & Brooke Aldridge will headline an event on Saturday at the Cleveland County Fairgrounds in Shelby, NC launching their new CD, Somewhere In Between. The gates will open at 4:00 P.M. There will be a stage for emerging artists, fair food vendors, and even a fireworks display. Darin & Brooke and their band will debut the songs from the new CD at 8:00 P.M.
They are making numerous radio and television appearances this week promoting the release and event, including the Charlotte Today Show, WGWG’s Pickin’ on the Porch with Steve Leatherwood, WHOS, WCSL 1590 AM, WBT’s Keith Larson Show, and WBT’s Bluegrass on Broad concert series.
Drive Time hits #1 on Alternate Roots chart
Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver’s latest CD, Drive Time, hit #1 on the Alternate Roots Bluegrass Chart this week!
Alternate Roots launched its online magazine in 2007. Earlier this year, it added Bluegrass to the genres for which it offers a weekly radio chart.
