New Website Design Launches Today

Posted on: October 14th, 2010 by 2 Comments

This afternoon (Thursday, October 14), we launched a complete redesign of our website, CrossroadsMusic.com. We rebuilt the site from scratch to make it easier for you to find the music you love. The home page features a new advanced search to narrow down precisely the soundtrack or CD you’re looking for; also, once you’ve searched, a new faceted search in the left column helps you narrow down search results.

The site was redesigned by Ponderwell, an Asheville web design firm.

Welcome, and take a few minutes to look through the new features. Enjoy!

Tony Greene Passes Away

Posted on: September 29th, 2010 by 1 Comment

Yesterday afternoon, Southern Gospel singer Tony Greene passed away. He had been hospitalized for the last few days facing a possible kidney rejection, a collapsed lung, and ultimately an infection the doctors were unable to trace. For his last few hours, he was surrounded by family and friends, who, in the words of brother-in-law Dean Hopper, came to “sing him into Glory.” He leaves behind his wife, TaRanda, and two daughters, Belle (age 6) and Josie (age 2).

Crossroads worked with the Greenes in 2006, distributing their God is a Good God project. Several Crossroads staffers share their Greenes memories:

“I grew up with the Greenes in Boone NC and have known them since we were all kids,” Greg Bentley recalls. “My first remembrance of Tony was when he was about 10 or so. The group I was singing with and the Greenes were singing at one of the local churches. They stepped up to sing, here is this little kid that just owned the stage. Even at such a young age, Tony knew what to do on stage to get the most out of a song. At that time, he was singing as high as his sister Kim. We have had a great connection between our families ever since. Tony was one person who could have you laughing at one moment, and crying in the next. He was always a joy to be around and always would ask how everyone in my family was doing.

“My prayers and support go out to Taranda and the rest of the Greenes in this tough time,” he added. “Though we are going to miss Tony greatly here, Praise the Lord we know he is in a better place where his healing has been completed.”

Jim Stover described Greene as “the consummate Christian gentleman, and such a wonderful blend of humorous and serious.” He added: “I came to admire and appreciate him greatly when we worked with the group in 2006-2007. Our prayers are ongoing and deepest condolences are sent to TaRanda and the children, Tony’s mother Carolyn, brother Tim, sister Kim, and the entire Greene family, and everyone else who loved Tony Greene, us included. To know him was to love him!”

Sonlite Records And Kingdom Heirs Celebrate Number One Song

Posted on: July 14th, 2010 by 2 Comments

Arden, NC (Crossroads) July 13, 2010 – This year, the Kingdom Heirs and Sonlite Records are both enjoying their 25th year in Southern Gospel music. Along the way, they have celebrated several number one songs, with the most recent being “He Locked The Gates.”

The Kingdom Heirs’ Steve French states, “We’ve had a good run through the years, with many songs in the charts, including several number two’s. However, it’s always exciting when you see your efforts land at that number one position. You know people have not only enjoyed your music but, we realize that we have touched lives with the message as well.”

“Its hard to believe that we’ve been doing this for 25 years now,” said Crossroads executive Chris White. “The Kingdom Heirs were one of the very first groups signed to the Sonlite label, and they have been a mainstay ever since. There has been a lot of loyalty from both parties through all these years, and that’s hard to find in the world we live in today. I truly appreciate what they have meant to the label through all the good times and even a few bad times,” White added.

“He Locked The Gates” is from the project When You Look At Me. The Kingdom Heirs’ latest release, 25th Anniversary, is a collection of 11 hit songs that were recorded by the group throughout the years. It truly is a collector’s dream. Both projects are available at many retail outlets across America, as well as at www.crossroadsmusic.com.

Crist Family completes mix for Oasis

Posted on: July 9th, 2010 by No Comments

The Crist Family has completed tracks, vocals, and mix for their next project, Oasis. From tender ballads to majestic anthems to a track with an African Men’s chorus, Oasis has something for everyone.

This is the first Crist Family release with live orchestration. “It makes a huge difference,” lead singer Rich Crist said. “We’re thrilled with what Jason Webb has done on this project. His arrangements are fantastic!”

Two members of the seven-person family ensemble, altos Breana and Lisa Crist, have their first feature songs on a Crist Family project. The title track, “My Oasis,” features Breana, while Lisa takes the lead on “Until He Comes.”

The project’s most unique track is “Rhythm of Grace.” “I had a concept,” Rich Crist shares, “to take an African Men’s chorus and interpret ‘Move to the Rhythm of Grace’ in Swahili, in and around our group in different segments of the song—and singing the actual English lyric as well. It was a real risk, it’s a real step out of what is comfortable, but sometimes you never know until you take a risk.

“I would not say that it would be a traditional Southern Gospel song—but the Crist family has always had a very wide style. That’s kind of who we are. Of course, we would never in a million years want to abandon some of the traditional stuff. We love it just as well! But we have members that are forty years apart in age. This song is one that I believe everybody’s gonna love, even though it is so different.”

Oasis is set to release on September 21.
