Press Release: Brian Alvey joins The Talleys

Posted on: August 31st, 2011 by No Comments

One of gospel music’s most beloved families, the Talley Trio, announces an exciting new chapter in their lives and ministry. Brian Alvey joins Roger, Debra and Lauren on stage in September 2011, making his debut at the Gatlinburg Gathering. Brian and Lauren were married in June 2011 and with this change the group will officially be known as The Talleys.

“Brian not only brings an impressive vocal ability to the group, but will add a new excitement to the stage with his proficiency on bass guitar, piano, electric and acoustic guitar and steel guitar. We look forward to showcasing his many talents on stage, but what we love most is his testimony, his heart for ministry and the impact he will have on listeners,” says Roger Talley.

Brian is an Indiana native and was raised in a pastor’s home. He has previously played piano and sung with Southern Sound, Beyond the Ashes and Tribute Quartet. Brian co-wrote Tribute’s first top 10 single, “That’s Why I Love Him So,” and was a 2009 Top 10 nominee for Horizon Individual of the Year.

Congratulations to our Contest Winners!

Posted on: June 14th, 2011 by 3 Comments

The Inspirations’ latest CD is titled God Makes No Mistakes. In the email we sent out last week announcing the CD, we decided to have some fun and run a contest. We made mis-spellings throughout the email and offered a free copy of the CD to the first five people to catch thirteen.

We were overwhelmed by hundreds of entries—actually literally, since there were points when they were coming in faster than we could reply! So we decided to send a CD to the first ten to get thirteen right! Our winners are John M., Steve L., Sonda W., Paul R., Gary W., Jerry M., Gene P., Debbie C., Andrew G., Hubert G.

Several of participants asked for an answer key, so here it is: Smokee (Smoky), Cooke (Cook), orignal (original), tobe (to be), limitess (limitless), comanding (commanding), baritown (baritone), accedent (accident), solow (solo), unmistakeable (unmistakable), sovreign ( sovereign), mistaeks (mistakes), mater (matter). A few of you caught the bonus name misspellings, Reagan’s (Ragan’s) and Holcombe (Holcomb).

Our Random House dictionary spells uptempo without a hyphen, but as a few of you noted, apparently other dictionaries disagree. At any rate, because our dictionary listed as correct, it wasn’t one of the ones we were looking for.

We had a lot of fun with this, and we hope you did, too!

Crossroads Unlocks Live Video Vault

Posted on: January 26th, 2011 by No Comments

At Crossroads, we’re committed to utilizing all of today’s technology to take the Greatest Story Ever Told to more people and places than ever before. We’re also geared to making things better and easier for those we serve! With that in mind, we’ve built the exclusive Crossroads Video Vault, and today we’re giving you the key!

The Crossroads Video Vault offers footage from existing live DVDs and exclusive, professionally recorded live concert footage. We’re launching the vault with two Southern Gospel and two Bluegrass titles.

The Crossroads Video Vault will initially include live versions of NQC Live Vol. 9 (2009) and Vol. 10 (2010). For the last decade, Crossroads and the National Quartet Convention have partnered to offer videos of highlights from live performances by Southern Gospel’s most popular groups. Individual songs or the complete performances can be purchased as view-only streams or downloadable files. This is the first time in the history of the series that web-based delivery is available.

The National Quartet Convention is the largest and most prestigious annual event in Southern Gospel. It was launched in 1957 by J.D. Sumner, James Blackwood, and Cecil Blackwood, in Memphis, Tennessee. Hosted in Louisville since 1993, it remains, in the words of founder J.D. Sumner, “the Granddaddy of them all.”

The Crossroads Video Vault will also initially include two live Bluegrass concerts, featuring Balsam Range and Darin & Brooke Aldridge. Both were recorded at the Winter Concert Series at the Colonial Theater on January 15, 2011, before a sell-out audience. These live concert videos are recorded direct to hard drive with three cameras and live switching. To preserve the live feel of the performances, the concerts are captured in their entirety and delivered unedited. The footage from each performance is a Crossroads Video Vault exclusive, available today for online streaming and download, here.

Balsam Range is a five-man Bluegrass supergroup from Haywood County, North Carolina. They bring a vibrant energy and diverse influences to offer a fresh Bluegrass sound in their chart-topping studio albums and engaging live concerts.

Darin and Brooke Aldridge, the Sweethearts of Bluegrass Music, front a six-piece band that is quickly rising to the top of Bluegrass music. They hail from Cherryville, North Carolina.

Future concerts in this series are expected to feature The Harris Brothers and The Boxcars.

With the launch of the Crossroads Video Vault, Crossroads is using cutting-edge innovative technology to make it easier than ever before to access your favorite music, and bring the venue to you.

So call some friends, pop some corn, and open the Crossroads Video Vault!

Posted on: December 26th, 2010 by 1 Comment

One year ago today, Vine recording artist Calvin Hunt passed away after a battle with cancer; he was fifty-two. He was a featured vocalist with the Brooklyn Tabernacle Singers and later the Christ Tabernacle Choir; he also recorded several projects. We had the honor to distribute his final CD and DVD, Bridges, and final DVD, Live in New York. Be praying for his family, especially during this season.

From that final DVD, here is his testimony—and the song “What Sin”:
