Toys for Tots 2010

Posted on: December 13th, 2010 by No Comments

Once again the Crossroads family was blessed with contributing to Toys for Tots. The Crossroads Music family made the delivery today that will hopefully bring smiles, and memories to many children within our community for a lifetime. We are very proud to be a part of such a great cause.

Crossroads - Toys for Tots 2010

Toys for Tots

Some of the Crossroads staff with toys going to the Toys for Tots campaign

Crossroads allowed me to partake in the Toys For Tots Campaign. Crossroads pulled together to help bring joy to several local children by donating gifts this year.

Again to see a company that would be so generous, and selfless is such a joy. The Word of God says in 1 John 3:16 (AMP) “ By this we come to know (progressively to recognize, to perceive, to understand) the [essential] love: that He laid down His [own] life for us; and we ought to lay [our] lives down for [those who are our] brothers [in Him].

Prayerfully all of these little ones are in homes with good Christian parents that have just been involved in a temporal setback. If not I pray that the setback sees their parents finding Christ through generous hearts this year, and move in Christ toward an ultimate comeback in Christ!

Being blessed and fortunate, I pray that we all would take the opportunity to make a small sacrifice in order to make a larger than life difference to someone in need. I want to thank God for His daily blessings, and lessons of love, and compassion through Crossroads.

May we all look to bless his name by blessing others… Merry Christmas to all!

Motivation through Declaration

Posted on: April 23rd, 2009 by No Comments

Some people are not easily excited. I on the other hand get tore up about everything. What I am saying is that I try, and I emphasize “try” to see God at work in everything. When I am going through a hallelujah anyhow time, I try to see that God is preparing me for another season, strengthening me through pruning, and refinement. During the good times, I try not to forget to give Him the glory in all things.

I read “Burke’s Brainwork” yesterday, and Mr. Burke’s blog yesterday spoke of change! Today I had the blessing of listening to Mr. Rich Crist’s testimony about the love of God through change, family and team work! You should have been here, it would have placed glory bumps on you from head to toe!!! For details about the Crist review on “Burke’s Brainwork,” please read the review at: http://burkesbrainwork.wordpress.com/2009/04/22/review-crist-family-declaration/

Lehitra’ot

Posted on: April 8th, 2009 by No Comments

I have been to a lot of funeral services, and none have touched my heart any more so than the one of Jerry Kelso’s son, Brandon. I see the Dove Brothers in the studio from time to time, and many other artists. Mr. Kelso always speaks to me when he comes to the studio, and I know his heart for Christ. Anyone present that had a heart could not help but to sense, and feel the hurt in that family. I will especially think of Brandon’s younger sister. To the family of Brandon Kelso, please know that I, to a certain degree, understand your pain. I understand because I have seen this pain in my own family. My grandmother said about my youngest uncles death, that she has never felt any deeper pain than to out live one of her children here in this world. According to the testimony of Brandon’s father, and his friends, Brandon -in my book- preached his own funeral. That is how we should all strive to leave.

This past week saw a few close friends, and members of the Crossroads Family and Community go home to be with the Lord. Jerry Salley’s father went home to be with Christ, Mrs. Shelia Heil’s mother also had her homegoing this past weekend.

I had two friends go home after a struggle with cancer the week before, and with each service it just doesn’t seem to get any easier.

Mr. Kelso did something that not many people would have the strength to do, and what no one could do without the Holy One! He not only spoke about his love for his son, but also sang ”To God Be The Glory,” and played the piano from his heart ever so graceful. Quite a few souls asked for prayer and professed to wanting that personal relationship with Christ at this service. It was a blessing!

I have heard people say at many services, “That they are sorry, and know it is hard to lose a loved one.” Some people simply say, “Good-bye.” I did not witness anyone say those things at Brandon’s service, but instead the pastor told the guest that to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. With that knowledge we should know that you can’t be lost at anytime when you know Christ as Lord and Savior. We know that all of these saints (Brandon, Jerry’s father, and Ms. Shelia’s mother) are happy and eternally rejoicing now.

With that I will conclude with the thought of a young man at Brandon’s service using the Hebrew term that says it best…”Lehitra’ot!” The Hebrew term for “I will see you soon.”

To each family, we love you, and pray that God comforts you, and grants you peace through a difficult time.

No Turning Back!

Posted on: March 15th, 2009 by No Comments

Just at two years ago Crossroads Music graciously took me in. I had several jobs before arriving at Crossroads, and finally finding a career. I have tried not to look back ever since. I know that there is a proverb (not a Biblical quote mind you) that says:
Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it. – George Santayana

However, I was reading a daily devotion by Greg Laurie that was based upon Genesis 19:26. Greg Laurie wrote, “Who was Lot’s wife? We don’t really know a lot about her, not even her name. We assume that she met Lot in Sodom. We can safely conclude that Lot’s wife was not a believer. It’s clear she did not want to leave Sodom. She wanted to steal one last glance, and it cost her everything. The book of Genesis tells us what happened that day. While they were fleeing, she looked back and became a pillar of salt. When Jesus said to His disciples, ” ‘Remember Lot’s wife’ ” (Luke 17:32), it was a warning to not look back.

I do not want to forget about where I came from, or what I have accomplished over the years. Although, I have no desire to look back at or relive the pain, struggle or sin. We have reached the digital era, we are the microwave society, and my endeavor is not to be left behind, but to move forward to glorify Christ in all that I do. I love camping, and woodstoves, I still enjoy looking through my old cassettes and vinyl records dating back to grade school, junior high, high school, and college, but I also understand that there comes a time to press forward, and move into the new era. I praise God that I work for a company that strives to move forward as well. So listen to some sample clips, download a few items or drop by your local Christian retailer, and ask them for a Crossroads CD that Trav has sent them. Peace, Blessings, and Joy…
