Sarah Green, from Columbia, Louisiana, has been selected to receive this month’s Crossroads Challenge award. Sarah is 63 years old and has lived with cerebral palsy since birth. Eighteen years ago, Sarah and her mother reached a point where they could no longer care for each other, and moved into a nursing home at the same time. She has been confined to a wheelchair for the past thirteen years, and can do little on her own without assistance. But she has met life head on. For example, it took her twenty one years to receive her high school diploma—but she finished the task.
Sarah is known for her prayerful encouragement to everyone she meets. Her testimony is this: “I live my life for the Lord. I try to treat others like I would want to be treated and I try to live like Jesus would want me to but, I know I fail. I just want others to see Jesus in me.” Sarah has also suffered from breast cancer and just recently found out she may be fighting for her life again with another round of cancer. But through it all, she continues to share encouragement to others, and tells of God’s goodness in her life.
Sarah is a big fan of gospel music. A friend of hers, Art Nelson, has made sure for the past three years that she gets to attend the big concert that comes to town. Some of her favorites are The Talleys, The Perrys, Dove Brothers, Brian Free & Assurance and the Hoppers. She saves her money all year long so she can buy a few CDs at the concert. Sarah’s only income is social security and the home takes all but $39 per month for her housing. From that $39 dollars, she always gives her tithes and supports the youth at the church, when she can.
Sarah Green is, without a doubt, one of God’s “real” heroes. Crossroads will be blessing Sarah with a financial gift as well as a lot of her favorite music. If you would like to send Sarah a card of encouragement or anything else that might be on your heart, please send it to the following address:

Crossroads Entertainment & Marketing launched the Crossroads challenge to help those who live in challenging or debilitating circumstances, yet still find joy in Christ and share it with others. If you know someone who reminds you of Sarah, send a short paragraph with this person’s story to challenge@crossroadsmusic.com. Each month, one person will be contacted and asked to tell their story. Crossroads will include their story in a press release, posted at crossroadsmusic.com. Since needs vary, Crossroads will ask the selected person to share what would benefit their lives the most, so that the company can provide help accordingly.
Crossroads looks forward to blessing others . . . for being a blessing.
